Abstract
Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the overall usage status of digital therapeutic devices(DTDs) used in occupational therapy(OT) in Korea and the level of awareness of occupational therapist(OTist)s on digital therapeutics. In addition, this study was intended to provide basic data on the professional intervention of OTists using DTDs.

Methods: This study surveyed a total of 2,866 OTist members registered with the Korean Society of Cognitive Rehabilitation from August to October 2022 through a questionnaire method, and collected the questionnaires from 120 members and analyzed the data. The survey was conducted as an online survey and a direct self-administered method was used. Based on the collected data, the general characteristics of the respondent and the frequency and percentage of the questionnaire were calculated and presented.

Results: OTists¡¯ awareness level of digital therapeutics was higher with ¡®don¡¯t know¡¯ (66.7%) than ¡®know¡¯ (33.3%). The Computer-Based Cognitive Rehabilitation (69.2%) was the most common intervention using DTDs, followed by virtual and augmented reality (30.8%). We also confirmed that mobile applications, artificial intelligence, metaverses, and brain-computer interfaces are being used. Stroke (69.3%) was the most common diagnosis of clients applying DTDs, followed by dementia (53.3%), traumatic brain injury (52.0%), and developmental disorder (30.7%). In addition, DTDs were used for interventions such as cognitive and perceptual training, upper extremity function training, and activities of daily living training. The positive response to the need to develop DTDs related to OT was 92.5%, and cognitive rehabilitation (74.2%) was the highest in the OT area requiring DTDs.

Conclusion: This study has clinical significance in that it has confirmed that various products related to digital therapeutics are being used for OT intervention by comprehensively investigating DTDs used in OT in Korea. In addition, it suggests the need for OTists to actively use and develop DTDs.
